I got an interview with a major online company writing parenting ...

I am so excited, I applied for this job where I would would work from home writing articles for a company that contracts out to other publications. I was super excited when I discovered that I could apply to write for the family and parenting department of the site. When I submitted my application I was warned that they get a ton of applicants and not to expect a reply right away. Imagine my surprise when I got up the next morning to find an email telling me that they loved my submission and thought I would be a great addition to their team and could I please submit an article on a random topic to show them my diversity and how well I could follow their article criteria. This was the topic they gave me, please let me know how you think I did. I?m really anxious about this position, I would love to write for this company.

5 Great Ways to Get Cheaper Home Insurance

Homeowner?s insurance is a necessity to protect you should your home ever suffer damage from natural disaster, theft, or any other unfortunate incidents. This type of insurance will also protect you if someone is injured while on your property. The majority of lenders require in their loan contracts that home insurance is maintained throughout the duration of the loan.

Like most insurance policies, homeowner?s insurance can be expensive and it certainly is worth the effort to find the best policy and get cheaper home insurance. A little research and effort can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars every year.

Here are 5 tips to help find cheaper home insurance premiums:

Shop Around

It may take some time, but could get you cheaper home insurance in the long run. Ask your friends, family and co-workers, post a question on your social networking site (Facebook, twitter, etc.), research companies online, use online quote services, contact local agents or contact your?state insurance department. National Association of Insurance Commissioners (www.naic.org) has information on insurers in your state, including average rates and complaints. This will give you an idea of different companies price ranges. But remember, there is more to consider than price alone. The company selected should deliver a fair price and quality service.

Check Your Credit

?

Maintaining a good credit history can get you cheaper home insurance. Insurance companies do consider credit histories of new applicants. Some insurance carriers will refuse policies on higher credit risk applicants. In the majority of states, companies must advise you of any adverse action, such as a higher rate. In this event you should always verify the accuracy of information the company was provided. Check your credit record on a regular basis and have any errors corrected promptly so that your record remains accurate. Monitor your credit report for free using?sites like?annualcreditreport.com, where you are entitled to a free?annual credit report?from each of the three major credit bureaus.

Combine your insurance policies

If you presently have multiple insurance policies, consider transferring them all over to one company and take advantage of discounts that may be able to get you cheaper home insurance. Most companies that sell auto, life and homeowner?s coverage will take 5 to 15% off your premium when you combine policies with them. But make certain this combined price is lower than buying the individual policies from separate companies.

Raise the policy deductible

Deductibles are the amount of money you have to pay toward a loss before your insurance company will pay on a claim, according to the terms of your policy. The higher the deductible, the more money saved on premiums. It?s common for companies to set the deductible at $500 if you don?t request a different amount. If you can afford to raise your deductible to $1,000, the premium could lower by as much as 25%.

Improve your home?s structure and security

Ask your insurance agent what steps you can take to make your home more resistant to natural disasters. Reinforcing your roof or adding storm shutters could easily get you cheaper home insurance. Consider modernizing your heating, plumbing and electrical systems to reduce the risk of water and fire damage.

You can usually get discounts of at least 5% for smoke detectors, security alarms or dead-bolt locks. Some companies will lower premiums by as much as 15 to 20% if you install security or fire alarm that rings at the authorities or other monitoring stations in case of emergency. Before you buy such a system, find out what type your agent recommends, how much the device would cost and how much you?d save on premiums. As these systems can be costly and not all systems qualify for a discount.
