Small business social media case studies

With 60% of companies using Twitter and 95% using Facebook, social media has been embraced by businesses around the globe, mostly by large businesses and the big marketing giants, but some small businesses have also benefited from them, especially when it comes to brand recognition, although with 76% of them NOT FINDING SOCIAL MEDIA USEFUL, they are still a minority. However, Facebook has tried to boost small businesses allowing free ads.. so this has helped a few small businesses to notice a boost in their branding (also thanks to linkedin or Twitter).

Here are some examples of small businesses that have benefited from social media:

Kogi BBQ

With the use of twitter this Korean BBQ trust roams Los Angeles city selling tacos. They use twitter to inform about their truck?s next stop, or what part of the city they?ll be visiting next. Right now they have over 45,000 twitter fans and they even had a crowdsourced T-shirt competition where their twitter fans could choose their favourite T-shirt design.

TENDER

This women clothes store with luxury clothes designed by top designers (Birmingham, Michigan) got a great boost in sales by offering their private-label Tender tights at $15 via Twitter. They sold out in no time.

Marination Mobile

This taco selling business in Seattle used to sell its tacos on different trucks, but right now thanks to its 10,000 followers between Facebook and Twitter it?s opened its second brick-and-mortar restaurant. How has social media helped them, you might ask. well, they?re not the only business selling $2.25 tacos, but they are one of the very few businesses selling $2.25 tacos whose small mobile business has managed to get two static restaurants.

Animal General Hospital

This animal hospital was really boosted when they decided to drop the yellow pages (where they?d invested a fortune) and embrace Facebook and Youtube. Within a year and a half they had 250 new clients, greatly due to the interaction social media allows and static publicity doesn?t allow.

Mary Anna?s Summer Sweet Tea

This small business in New Jersey is another great example of business blooming thanks to Twitter, which they use to tell their followers about all kinds of offers, and to sell their products online.

So, overall it?s highly advisable for you to go on Social media if you have a small business and want it to improve. For more information about how social media can help small businesses please check this post.
